CBS to Host 81st Golden Globe Awards in 2024

CBS is all set to host the prestigious Golden Globe Awards in 2024, marking an exciting shift from its former home on NBC. For over 40 years, NBC was the place to catch the glitz and glamour of the Golden Globes, but this year, CBS takes the spotlight.

The 81st annual Golden Globe Awards ceremony is scheduled to dazzle our screens on Sunday, January 7, 2024, from 8-11 p.m. ET (5-8 p.m. PT), airing live on CBS. What’s more, if you’re a streaming aficionado, you can also catch the ceremony on Paramount+ and the CBS app. This new deal brings the Golden Globes to a wider audience, making it easier for fans to tune in from anywhere.

“Live entertainment and sports have been, and will always be, a hallmark of CBS, and the Globes adds an exciting new dimension to our first quarter schedule this year,” the president and chief executive officer of CBS, mentioned in a statement. He further adds,” “The January timing also provides the added benefit of yet another signature platform to promote the return of CBS’ new primetime schedule in February.”

“We’re so proud to bring the Golden Globes to CBS to celebrate 81 years of award show history,” said CEO, Chairman, and Founder of Deadline parent Penske Media and owner of Dick Clark Productions. “CBS has demonstrated an impressive 30-year commitment to the Grammys and been instrumental to their long-term success. In CBS we found an ideal partner who understands the value of live entertainment programming and whose multi-platform distribution model is reflective of how global audiences choose to consume content today.”

The nominees for the 81st Annual Golden Globe Awards were recently revealed on Monday, December 11. The announcement streamed live on CBSNews.com and on “CBS Mornings.” It’s an exciting time as we anticipate who will take home the prestigious awards in various categories celebrating the best of television and film.

This transition to CBS signifies a pivotal juncture for the Golden Globes. Following a widely publicized scandal, the Hollywood Foreign Press Association, previously overseeing the awards, underwent significant restructuring. Disbanding the association, the awards now operate under new organizational leadership, aiming to rejuvenate their credibility.

The show, which reaches over 185 countries worldwide, is produced and owned by Dick Clark Productions, with Glenn Weiss and Ricky Kirshner of White Cherry Entertainment taking the helm as executive producers. Glenn Weiss will also be directing this spectacular event.

As CBS prepares to host the 81st Golden Globe Awards in 2024, it marks the beginning of an exciting new chapter for this esteemed ceremony. Join us as we witness a night of elegance, prestige, and celebration—a night destined to be etched in entertainment history!
