Eddie Redmayne’s ‘The Day of the Jackal’ Is a Nail-biting Thriller that thrills you till the Credit Rolls. Watch Right Now
2 min readFrederick Forsyth’s classic novel is now adapted as a series starring Eddie Redmayne, Lashana Lynch, Úrsula Corberó, and other talented cast. It is an espionage political thriller that explores the life of The Jackal who is assigned to assassinate a tech entrepreneur named Ulle Dag Charles.
Bianca Pullman finds out about The Jackal so she goes on the hunt to find and kill him. This cat-and-mouse thriller explores Bianca’s determination and resourcefulness against The Jackal’s cold efficiency and cunning. From the initial frame of the series, you can see the tension building as the characters get their proper motivation and go on their journey.
Eddie Redmayne’s ‘The Day of the Jackal’ Review
The Day of the Jackal is a relentless thriller that keeps the essence of the original world and adds modern characters and a twist that fits right in today’s world. With each passing episode, you will feel an urgency to learn a little more about the characters and overall plot of the series until the explosive conclusion that might shock you.
The experience elevates because of the actors, Eddie Redmayne and Lashana Lynch. Eddie Redmayne is extraordinary in the movie, blending calmness with menace, and as we go through episodes, we know what’s inside the cold-blooded killer.
Similarly, Lashana Lynch is brilliant in the series but in the writing point, she lacks little character depth and her exploration seems forced and rushed. With limited resources, she shines whenever she faces The Jackal and the chemistry between the two actors is spot on.
The series starts with the Jackal killing the high profile in the tech field and after that chain of events unfolds that includes the MI6 agent getting in his way of doing other assassins. The series’ strongest part is their cat-and-mouse thriller, showing the greatest of the action sequences and their mind games to fool each other.
I enjoyed how the series puts social messaging and contemporary issues seamlessly into the plot without affecting the pace. This thriller explores the current societal concerns about privacy and security in this day and age of technology.
Overall, the series is a thrilling ride from start to end. The thrilling aspect is it keeps you on the edge of your seat and gives you great entertainment in the comfort of your home. Despite certain aspects, the mini-series is an amazing watch that you want to watch every week. Although it is said to be a mini-series, I’m hoping it gets renewed for season two.
