It has been a long time since we heard about the Harry Potter series in the making and now it is time to know the Snowrunner and the director of the show. We all know about the faithful adaptation of J.K. Rowling’s magical universe to life again. But the concern was always about the showrunner who could helm the gigantic task of making it. Francesca Gardiner is now roped in for the showrunner role.
“We’re in conversations with several different writers to figure out who’s going to be the person to lead that franchise for us,” Channing Dungey mentioned in one of the interviews. She further added, “The first step for us is figuring out who this showrunner is going to be and once we get that locked down, then we can start having those [casting] conversations”.
HBO has appointed Francesca Gardiner, renowned for her stellar work on Succession and His Dark Materials, as the showrunner and executive producer. Her illustrious and fantastic career in TV gives the audience confidence about the new series. Although JK Rowling serves as the producer, she is not involved in day-to-day life.
Warner Bros. Television, in collaboration with Rowling’s Brontë Film and TV, is producing the series. Executive producers include Rowling herself, Neil Blair, Ruth Kenley-Letts from Brontë Film and TV, and David Heyman of Heyday Films, who produced the original Harry Potter movies.
Joining her is Mark Mylod, an Emmy-winning director celebrated for his contributions to Succession, Game of Thrones, and the highly anticipated second season of The Last of Us. Mylod will direct multiple episodes of the series and also serve as an executive producer. So, we think the fantastic show is in safe hands.
