Will Smith has officially announced that a sequel to the super popular movie I Am Legend is on its way, and this time, Michael B. Jordan will be joining in on the action. They’re currently working on the script, which means the story for the new movie is being written.
During his appearance at the Red Sea International Film Festival in Jeddah, Saudi Arabia, Will Smith shared some exciting news about the long-awaited sequel to I Am Legend. In a public interview, he revealed that he and Michael B. Jordan are in talks to produce and star in the sequel. The movie will be based on the alternate ending used in the 2007 post-apocalyptic sci-fi movie’s DVD release, which is different from its theatrical version. In the alternate ending, the main character played by Will Smith doesn’t die.
“I have a call with Michael B. Jordan tomorrow. We’re close, script just came in,” He said about the ‘I Am Legend’ question. “You have to be a real ‘I Am Legend’ buff to know this, but in the first, theatrical version, my character dies, but on the DVD there was an alternate version of the ending where my character lived. We are going with the mythology of the DVD version. I can’t tell you anything more, but Michael B. Jordan is in.”
The Oscar winner revealed that he’ll be talking to Michael B. Jordan about “I Am Legend 2”. They’ll be using the DVD version of the first movie where Smith’s character lives. Michael B. Jordan will also be starring in the upcoming movie.
The initial movie, released in 2007, was a tremendous success, grossing over $585 million worldwide. Fans have been eagerly anticipating a sequel for quite some time, and it appears that their wish has finally been granted. As this sci-fi adventure was a thrill to watch and they want the same thrill and entertainment in the movie.
