Taika acknowledges the influence of the Star Wars original trilogy and wants his movie to pass on the same joy and love as the original series. In his recent appearance on The Kelly Clarkson Show, He discusses his desire to take time with the Star Wars project. But he hinted that the tone of his upcoming Star Wars will be similar to the original trilogy.

Taika Waititi, the director of the upcoming Star Wars film, revealed that he has been working on the project for several years. However, he emphasized the importance of getting the film right and not rushing the process. Waititi stated that the film will continue to develop on the side and he will take his time to ensure that it meets his expectations.

He said”I’ve been developing [the Star Wars film] for a few years, but I think with any film, but that one in particular, it’s something I’d really like to get right so I don’t want to rush it. It’s going to bubble along on the side.”

He further adds, “I wanna capture that joy and entertainment of those early ones like The Empire Strikes Back and Return of the Jedi and all those ones, so I’m trying to figure that out. It’ll happen.”

It is comforting to know that Taika is not rushing on to make movies. Previous Star Wars movies does not really live up to the expectations so it is good that he is taking time and thinking about the fan and the heritage of Star Wars. With all the things, he is still taking time in the scripts and we hope he makes the finest Star Wars movie.

Star Wars will not be his next two movies as he mentioned. He is planning to direct the adaption of Kazuo Ishiguro’s novel. Similarly, he is also writing the script based on Alejandro Jodorowsky’s graphic novel. It is rumored that he has even signed Aikra.

With all the mentioned projects, it will take a minimum of six, to seven years to make the Star Wars movie. However, he has not officially confirmed the chronology of his project.
